Information we process
We process account details you provide, including your name, business name, and email address. We also process submitted search references, catalog refinements, support messages, and subscription records. Stripe processes payment details for paid subscriptions; Filter Cross Hub does not store full card numbers.
Device and connection information
When you carry out a key action on the service — running a cross-reference search, opening a part record, creating an account, signing in, contacting support, or submitting a missing part — we record the date and time, the action, the Internet Protocol (IP) address the request came from, the browser user agent, and supported browser client hints. From this technical information we infer general device type, device brand or model when available, browser, and operating system. Where you are signed in, the record is associated with your account and the email address on it; the email address used to create an account or sign in is also recorded against those events. We do not use canvas fingerprinting, collect hardware identifiers, or request precise GPS location.
Approximate location
We infer an approximate country, region, and city from the IP address. These lookups run against geolocation databases installed on our own servers, so your IP address is not sent to an external location provider for this purpose. The result may include approximate coordinates and an accuracy radius. IP-based location is not precise and may be wrong, especially when a VPN, proxy, corporate network, or mobile network is used.
IP geolocation data is provided by DB-IP under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Licence, and may include GeoLite2 data created by MaxMind.
How we use information
We use this information to provide and secure accounts, verify authentication, enforce search entitlements, operate subscriptions, respond to support requests, investigate misuse, and improve catalog coverage.
We also use approximate location to understand which regions our visitors are in, to present regionally relevant content and pricing, and to plan and improve dealer and distributor coverage — including, where such listings are available, showing dealers or distributors close to your area. We do not sell this information, and we do not currently share individual visitor records, IP addresses, or device records with dealers or distributors.
Service providers and access
Information is shared with service providers only where needed to operate authentication, hosting, email, and billing. Authentication and visitor history, including full IP addresses, is restricted to authorized super administrators.
Cookies
Secure cookies keep you signed in. A session identifier enforces the one-query guest allowance, and the same identifier is used to group a visitor’s activity in our own analytics so repeat actions are not double counted. These cookies are used for service operation and first-party analytics rather than advertising, and we do not run third-party advertising or analytics scripts.
If you opt out of analytics, we store a fch_no_track preference cookie so we can keep honouring that choice on this browser.
Retention
Per-event IP, approximate location, and device records — covering both authentication events and other key actions — are deleted after 12 months. Account, support, billing, security, and catalog-operation records are retained only for their operational, contractual, security, or legal purpose, then deleted or anonymized when no longer needed.
Your choices
You may opt out of first-party visitor analytics on this browser at any time, using the control below. Opting out stops your IP address, approximate location, and device information being recorded against your activity. An anonymous count of searched references is still kept so that the popular-references list keeps working, and records strictly necessary to secure accounts, such as sign-in history, continue.
